CPA Announces Leadership Changes as CEO Michael Stumo Joins Trump Administration

Jon Toomey to Lead CPA as President, Nick Iacovella Promoted to Executive Vice President

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Coalition for a Prosperous America (CPA) today announced key leadership changes as CEO Michael Stumo steps down to take on a new role in the Trump administration as Associate Director for Economic Policy and Buy America at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), where he will report directly to OMB Director Russ Vought. Jon Toomey has been elevated as President of CPA to lead the organization and Nick Iacovella has been promoted to Executive Vice President.

Under Stumo’s leadership since the organization was first founded in 2007, CPA has grown into the leading national organization advocating for pro-America trade and industrial policies, achieving major policy victories on tariffs, supply chain security, trade enforcement, and reindustrialization. His work at OMB will be instrumental in advancing a trade and economic agenda that reindustrializes the U.S., rebalances trade, and creates broadly-shared prosperity in the U.S. economy.

To continue building on CPA’s momentum, the organization is announcing the following leadership changes:

Jon Toomey has been promoted to President. Since joining CPA in 2020, Toomey has spearheaded CPA’s government relations and advocacy efforts, playing a critical role in shaping policy at the highest levels of government. Before CPA, he served as Senior Counsel to former Representative Diane Black during her time as the Chairman of the House Budget Committee and senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee, where Toomey played a key role in passing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act—the last major tax reform passed by Congress.

Nick Iacovella has been promoted to Executive Vice President. Since joining CPA in 2021, Iacovella has led CPA’s Public Affairs and Communications, significantly expanding the organization’s media presence and influence in Washington. He was previously Deputy Director of Communications for Senator Marco Rubio, serving as spokesperson when Rubio was Acting Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. Iacovella also served as Director of Communications for the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship.

“These leadership changes reflect CPA’s continued commitment to fighting for pro-America economic and trade policies that strengthen our nation’s industrial base and protect American workers,” said Zach Mottl, Chairman of CPA. “Michael has been a tireless champion for our mission, and we are confident he will continue to advance the trade, industrial, and tax policies to grow America’s industrial base in his new role at OMB. With Jon leading as President and Nick as Executive Vice President, CPA is well-positioned to drive the next phase of America’s trade and economic transformation.”

CPA remains at the forefront of shaping tax, trade, and other economic policies. These leadership changes will ensure CPA continues to be the leading voice for American producers and workers for years to come.
