Donald Trump delivered what’s being viewed as his first major general election speech today, and he went hard after Hillary Clinton on trade, dismissing entirely her oft-stated opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

“If she is elected president, she will adopt the Trans-Pacific Partnership and we will lose millions of jobs and our economic independence for good,” he said in New York. “She’ll do this, and just as she has betrayed the American worker on trade at every single stage of her career, and it will be even worse than the Clintons’ NAFTA deal, and I never thought it could get worse than that.”
Trump credited himself for Clinton’s change of heart on TPP last year and claimed the Democratic frontrunner was only “pretending” to be opposed.
“We will lose jobs, we will lose employment, we will lose taxes, we will lose everything” if TPP is passed, he added. “We will lose our country. I want trade deals, but they have to be great for the United States and for our workers.”
