Trump, in call to Xi, expresses disappointment over trade deficit increase

President Trump spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday and “expressed disappointment” that the U.S. trade deficit with China is increasing, the White House said.

In a statement on the call, the White House said that in addition to discussing issues related to North Korea, the two leaders addressed “trade issues, and President Trump expressed disappointment that the United States’ trade deficit with China has continued to grow.”

“President Trump made clear that the situation is not sustainable,” the statement added.
