Michael Stumo is the Chief Executive Officer of the Coalition for a Prosperous America (CPA), the leading, national bipartisan organization representing exclusively domestic producers and workers across many industries and sectors of the U.S. economy. Serving as CEO since CPA’s founding in 2007, Michael manages and oversees all of the organization’s strategic activities and advocacy, including government affairs, economic research, public affairs and communications, and industry leadership.
Michael is a leading policy expert on a wide-range of trade, tax, manufacturing, industrial policy, currency, and agricultural issues. He works closely with a wide-range of Democrat and Republican policymakers, legislators, and industry advocacy organizations in Washington, D.C. and across the nation, including officials in the Executive Branch, Members of Congress and their staff, regulators, federal agencies, and other key decision makers in the U.S. government to advance strategic trade, tax, and growth policies that will benefit U.S. domestic producers and workers.
He appears on national television outlets and radio programs, and he has been quoted in major national news publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Washington Post. His articles on trade, tax, and economics are published frequently in publications like The Hill, Inside Sources, and Marketwatch, among many other U.S. publications.
Michael previously served as General Counsel for the Organization for Competitive Markets, focusing on agriculture and antitrust issues. Prior to that he was a lawyer and litigator at Brignole, Bush and Lewis in Hartford, CT and Domina Law in Omaha, NE.
Michael holds a B.S. from Iowa State University where he majored in Agriculture and graduated with high distinction and a J.D. from the University of Iowa where he graduated with high distinction. He lives on a farm in southwest Massachusetts with his wife, Nadia, where they raised three children.
