Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) is urging President Trump to publish a “now late” and incomplete Buy American and Hire American report he demanded earlier this year – a report she said would advance the enforcement of existing laws.

The report, called for by Trump in April, was due to the White House by Nov. 24. However, industry sources and Baldwin have said it has not been completed.
“I understand that the report is not finished and I am writing to urge your Administration to expedite the publication of this now late report,” Baldwin said in a Dec. 12 letter to Trump.
Trump’s “Buy American and Hire American” order called on the heads of all government agencies to submit information on “the monitoring of, enforcement of, implementation of, and compliance with Buy American laws within their agencies” for the report. The order also directed the Commerce Department and Office of the U.S. Trade Representative to complete assessments of the impacts that free trade deals and the World Trade Organization’s Government Procurement Agreement have “on the operation of Buy American Laws, including their impacts on the implementation of domestic procurement preferences.” Public comments on the report were due in September.
