Schumer: Trump ‘governing like a lamb’ in not blaming China on trade, says ‘I do’

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said today that while President Trump “may not blame China” for the U.S. trade deficit, he does – “and so do millions of Americans who voted for him and others who have lost their jobs at the hands of China’s rapacious trade policies.”

Schumer’s statement was issued in response to reports that Trump, in China, lamented the size of the trade deficit with Beijing – and called again for its reduction – but said he did not blame China for acting in its interests in dealing with prior U.S. administrations. “After all, who can blame a country for being able to take advantage of another country for the benefit of its citizens?” Trump said. “I give China great credit.”
