Press Release: US Trade Rep Confirms Strong Stance on New NAFTA

Washington~ Yesterday, the Coalition for a Prosperous America (CPA) met with United States Trade Representative, Robert Lighthizer to talk about NAFTA renegotiations, trade enforcement, trade deficits, and currency misalignment. CPA members had an opportunity to share the challenges they face in their business due to failed trade policy.

“It was a great meeting with USTR Bob Lighthizer and his team,” said Dan DiMicco, CPA Chairman. “It was clear that Ambassador Lighthizer and the President are committed to major trade reform. CPA together with our 4 million strong organization expressed our commitment to support their efforts.”

“The meeting was a great opportunity to share our concerns and hear from Ambassador Lighthizer about his plans to make sure American industry and the American people are getting a fair deal when it comes to world trade,” said Zach Mottl, Chief Alignment Officer of Atlas Tool and Die.

 

“It is very refreshing to have pro-American trade officials working for manufacturing, agriculture and labor,” said Michael Stumo, CEO of CPA. “This is our chance end stupid trade policy and CPA will be working very closely with the Ambassador to make sure it happens.”
