Press Release: CPA to Speak at German Marshall Fund’s Annual Brussels Forum

Washington~ Coalition for a Prosperous America (CPA) is excited to announce that Michael Stumo, CEO of CPA, will face off against the EU Trade Commissioner on Friday at the Brussels Forum.

“I am honored to be invited to present to the prestigious Brussels Forum,” said Stumo. “In past years, former US Trade Ambassador Michael Froman held this position on the panel. It is a testament to the hard work of CPA members that our issues have become nationally and globally prominent such that we can no longer be ignored. Indeed, we are ahead of the curve.”

The Brussels Forum is an annual meeting, hosted by the German Marshall Fund, where influential North American and European political, corporate, and intellectual leaders address challenges facing both sides of the Atlantic. Participants include heads of state, senior officials from the European Union institutions and member states, U.S. Cabinet officials, Congressional representatives, Parliamentarians, academics and media.

Stumo will be speaking about the backlash against globalization during a panel titled Does the World Want to be Connected? Other panel speakers The Hon. Cecilia Malmström, EU Commissioner for Trade, and Mr. Iain Conn, CEO of Centrica and Max Hofmann, European Correspondent and Brussels Bureau Chief, Deutsche Welle.

“I will be delivering the message that the old global trade model results in an economic carpet bombing of middle class America,” continued Stumo. “Voters economic security has been undermined. US sovereignty has been eroded. Global leaders need to chart a new course to achieve broadly shared prosperity.”
