The Davos crowd continues to hear speeches reinforcing attendees’ twisted globalist vision.
The protectionist president of China, Xi Jinping, is freaking out about Trump’s intentions to neutralize their WTO lawbreaking. He gave a Davos speech this week saying:
“Pursuing protectionism is just like locking oneself in a dark room,” the Chinese president declared. “While wind and rain may be kept outside, so are light and air. No one will emerge as a winner in a trade war.”
The NY Times, rather than pointing out the hypocrisy, calls China a champion of economic globalization.
China has waged a trade war against the US since before 2000. And won. The neoliberal economic experts praise it as an export oriented growth strategy.
Now, when called upon their game, the Chinese cannot complain of a trade war. The US is China’s biggest customer. Every $1 billion in Chinese imports causes at least 4,552 US jobs lost. If we fix the US-Chinese trade deficit, we can put hundreds of thousands of US workers to work in the upcoming years. The US will win, not lose.
