In a sign that the House Republican leadership plans to hold a vote this week on Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) legislation, the House Rules Committee has scheduled an emergency meeting for Wednesday (June 10) at 3 p.m. to draft a rule for floor consideration of the Senate-passed bill to renew TPA and Trade Adjustment Assistance, H.R. 1314.

The committee will also decide on rules for a customs and enforcement bill and legislation to renew three U.S. trade preferences programs, according to a meeting announcement sent out at roughly 12:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The Rules Committee meeting likely means the leadership plans on holding a vote on the trade bills on Friday, according to a congressional aide. That said, the House GOP leadership is likely to make a final decision on scheduling the vote after a closed-door meeting of the Republican conference on Wednesday morning, sources said
