CPA WANTS TO KNOW

Impact of De Minimis Loophole on Industry

CPA has been working with Democrats and Republicans to close the harmful de minimis loophole. The de minimis loophole allows the post office, express shippers such as FedEx and UPS, and others to bring millions of packages valued under $800 into the United States without paying duties, taxes, fees or undergoing rigorous inspection. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), imports using the de minimis loophole include “high-risk shipments that may contain narcotics, merchandise that poses a risk to public safety, counterfeits, or other contraband.”

As part of our effort, key lawmakers in Congress have asked CPA to find American companies and industries that have been harmed by de minimis. If your company is being negatively impacted by the de minimis loophole and a flood of cheap imports, fill out the survey below.
