CPA Sends Letter To Senate Leaders Schumer and McConnell Opposing Advancement of Recent USITC Nominations

CPA Letter to Senate Leadership Opposing USITC Nominations

Today, the Coalition for a Prosperous America (CPA) sent a letter to Senate Leaders Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to express serious concerns regarding the rushed nominations of Halie Craig and James Coughlan to the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC). These nominations, brought forward at the end of the congressional session, undermine the opportunity to thoroughly assess and ensure the qualifications of candidates for such an important role.

When Americans voted for more aggressive trade policies, they did so with the expectation that officials would be appointed who are committed to protecting American workers, industries, and farmers. New commissioners should be chosen with ample time to confirm that they are highly qualified, unbiased, and supportive of U.S. industry and labor.
