CPA Responds to Chinese Government Sanctions: “We Won’t Be Deterred”

CPA Thanks China for Recognizing CPA’s Important Work to Fight for the American Worker

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to being placed on China’s export-control sanctions list today, the Coalition for a Prosperous America (CPA) issued the following statement:

“The Chinese government’s attempt to sanction CPA is a clear indication they’re ‘tariff-ied’ of our influence and effectiveness in advocating for American workers and producers,” said Zach Mottl, Chairman of CPA. “Let us be clear: these actions will not deter or intimidate CPA. On the contrary, they reinforce the importance and urgency of our mission to restore American manufacturing strength, safeguard our economic and national security, and secure broadly-shared prosperity for working-class Americans.”

As The Wall Street Journal reported last week, “Beijing added 16 U.S. entities to an export-control list, which prohibits the export from China of items that can have military applications. One of the listed entities is Coalition For A Prosperous America, a group representing U.S. manufacturers that supports Trump’s tariffs.”

“We appreciate China’s recognition of CPA’s important work to stand up for American workers and American manufacturers,” said Jon Toomey, President of CPA. “We will stand firm in our resolve, continuing to advocate for robust trade policies, including tariffs, that put America’s interests first. CPA remains unwavering in our commitment to rebuilding U.S. industry and supporting American workers. China’s latest move only proves that our efforts are making an impact—and we will not back down.”
