[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has spurred a Congressional effort to eliminate “Permanent Normal Trade Relations” (PNTR) with Russia. Doing so would increase tariffs on Russian goods and potentially pave the way to doing the same with China

Here are three reasons to sign the petition to Congress supporting the elimination of PNTR for Russia.

Tariffs. Revoking Russia’s PNTR status would immediately and significantly increase tariffs on all Russian imports. That includes the steel that Russia has been dumping in the U.S. market for many years.

Import dependence. The United States is heavily dependent on imports in key industries, including metals, prescription medicines, and semiconductors. Revoking Russia PNTR would strengthen calls in Congress for a “moonshot” effort to rebuild domestic manufacturing.

China. China has openly supported Russia’s Ukraine invasion. Eliminating PNTR for Russia would pave the way for a long-overdue revocation of China’s PNTR status as well.
