Sources: Commodity Markets Council president to be named USTR chief agriculture negotiator

Gregg Doud, president of the Commodity Markets Council, is expected to be tapped as the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative’s chief agriculture negotiator, sources told Inside U.S. Trade.

Those sources said Doud is still being vetted by the Presidential Personnel Office and that it’s unclear when his nomination would be announced.

Before joining the Commodity Markets Council, Doud was a senior professional staff member for Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS). He served in a similar role on the Senate Agriculture Committee under chairman Pat Roberts (R-KS), his bio states.

According to his bio, Doud “was part of the team that crafted the 2012 Senate Farm Bill and his portfolio of issues included livestock, international trade, food aid and oversight of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.”
