The Department of Labor reported this morning that America’s manufacturing sector added 8,000 jobs in February.

The #AAMeter, which tracks President Obama’s promise to create 1 million new manufacturing jobs in his second term, progressed to +383,000 jobs, after revisions to January’s data.
Additionally, the U.S. Commerce Department reported this morning that America’s monthly goods trade deficit with China climbed to $28.6 billion in January. The country’s deficit with Japan climbed to $5.7 billion in the same month.
Said Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) President Scott Paul:
“This jobs report just goes to show the economy, and specifically our manufacturing sector, still faces a big threat in unchecked foreign currency manipulation by China and Japan. In order to reach the president’s goal of creating 1 million new manufacturing jobs in his second term, Washington must put the right policies in place. These include a currency provision in the Trans-Pacific Partnership, business tax reform that recognizes domestic manufacturing’s critical role in our economy, and a serious long-term investment in infrastructure.”
