Brad Markell

Brad Markell has spent most of his life in the auto industry.  He has been a production worker for General Motors teaching at Wayne State University.  More recently, Brad managed the Labor in Manufacturing Program at the Manufacturing Extension Program center in Michigan.  Thereafter he became an Internation Representative at the International Union, UAW.  Brad currently is Executive Director at the AFL-CIO Industrial Union Council.

  • 1998 – 2002: MIT Labor Aerospace Research Agenda working group
  • 1998 – 2001: Dana Worker’s Alliance – North American coalition of unions representing Dana and Echlin auto parts workers
  • 1999 – 2002: Executive Committee, Coalition for Justice in the Maquiladoras
  • 1998 – 2003: International Research Network on Autowork in the Americas
  • 2006 – 2010: UAW representative to Michigan Apollo Alliance;
  • 2008 – 2009: Michigan Climate Action Council, appointed by Governor Granholm
  • 2007 – 2012: Cornell Global Labor Institute – Labor Leaders Climate Forum
